Broncos Secure 2024 Sixth-Round Selection from 49ers in Exchange for OLB Randy Gregory and 2024 Seventh-Round Pick
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado — The Denver Broncos have successfully procured a sixth-round pick for the 2024 NFL Draft, courtesy of the San Francisco 49ers, through a transaction involving outside linebacker Randy Gregory and a seventh-round pick from the same draft year. This strategic maneuver was officially confirmed by the Broncos on a Friday.
Randy Gregory’s tenure with the Broncos commenced in the year 2022, wherein he was featured in a total of ten games, six of which he initiated as a starter. During this tenure, he displayed remarkable prowess, amassing three quarterback sacks, instigating two forced fumbles, executing 21 tackles, four tackles resulting in a loss, and delivering nine significant quarterback hits. Gregory’s performance in the year 2023, spanning four games, included one quarterback sack, a deftly executed pass defense, nine tackles, two tackles for loss, and two quarterback hits.
Head Coach Sean Payton articulated, “Given the trajectory of some of our emerging talents and the strategic direction we are charting, we deemed it judicious for our team’s present circumstances to embark on this course of action,” alluding to the Broncos’ decision to part ways with Randy Gregory.
In the context of Denver’s triumphant fourth-week encounter, Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper were entrusted with the roles of commencing the game as outside linebackers. Their combined efforts resulted in an impressive nine tackles, a staggering 3.5 sacks, three tackles translating into a loss of yardage, four impactful quarterback hits, an expertly induced forced fumble, and an ensuing fumble recovery culminating in a touchdown.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that outside linebacker Frank Clark demonstrated full participation in Friday’s practice session, rendering him without a game status designation for the forthcoming Sunday clash, thereby confirming his availability to partake in the contest against the New York Jets. In a parallel development, outside linebacker Baron Browning, who resumed practice activities during the week, has been declared ineligible for participation in Week 5.
Consequently, the active roster of the Denver Broncos presently encompasses 52 players.
